A breath of fresh thinking
I have taught math to thousands of kids of all levels and ages over my years as a public school teacher and private tutor. My skills include breaking down steps into easily digestible pieces and differentiating topics for both intervention and advanced students. I am well versed from Pre-Algebra to Calculus, Geometry to Probability & Statistics, and everything in between and beyond.
I am a graduate of UC Berkeley's Pure Mathematics Undergraduate program with 10 years of experience teaching math in Oakland and San Jose public schools. I have a CA clear credential in HS mathematics (Examination) and have taught Pre-Algebra, Algebra, Geometry, Pre-Calculus/Trigonometry, college level Calculus, and Probability & Statistics (AP/IB inscluded), all at both advanced and intervention levels.
Sessions can be held in person or online. Pricing is hourly based on level of math -- there is a sliding scale and bartering options also available. Please contact me in case of math emergencies (they are real!) and/or to schedule some sessions.
Nature is by default logical. Plants grow in the most mathematically efficient way and create beautiful patterns. You can see swirls following the golden ratio, spirals numbered by the Fibonnaci sequence, and growth in a fractal pattern (as seen throughout this page). I help students rediscover their natural logic.
"Seema is one of the most helpful tutors I’ve gone to! She really helps to break down hard topics and approach them in different ways, making them easier to understand. She tutored me in Alg 2/Trig and PreCalc. I had a B before I attended Seema, and through her tutoring sessions along with the confidence she was able to instill in me— I was able to raise it to an A! I definitely recommend going to Seema for a tutor." -Siy. K.
"Seema helped me with Pre Calculus Honors, AP Calculus AB/BC, and AP Psychics 1. She would help me with both homework and studying before tests. I started working with Seema when I took Pre Calculus Honors because I felt the class was very fast pace with little explanation and I needed to go over every concepts slower and step by step. I had a hard time with application of derivatives word problems and identifying what is being asked and how to set the problem. Seema taught me how to identify the different information given to create the starting equation that I would then take the derivative of. Seema would explain the reasoning behind each step, helping me along the way. I liked how she explained concepts in a different way than my math teacher, which made me understand the concepts better. She also gave me extra problems to practice more on specific topics. After having a session with Seema, I understood how to solve each problems better and faster. Overall I felt more confident about my math skills and do well on tests and AP tests. " -Sof. S.
"Thank you for helping tutor me on a weekly basis throughout my high school mathematic journey. I found your tutoring helpful to navigate confusing concepts within classes such as Calc 2. I found that coming to your tutoring sessions with notes and problems that I fell behind on in class to be most helpful with learning the confusing topics. I still apply the learning methods you taught me such as creating note cards to learn and understand the basic principles and formulas to the math classes I've advanced on to. Also I have learned how organization is key to understand your work and go back to restudy material." -Luc. S.
